Importance of fellowship

How much do we rely on FB for fellowship? To draw closer to His word? To understand Him.

Do we have physical fellowship around us?

I realised in my walk that I put so much emphasis on the online community that when social media went down and the power cut out here, I was like yikes, where are my prayer warriors at!

Thank God I had my brothers and sisters on other platforms.

However what if it didn’t come back on?

This was just a glimpse on how most of our fellowship relies on the internet. To watch sermons, to edify the body, to share the gospel.

Just how easily the enemy can take this away.

Do we even know how to evangelise face to face anymore? To share the gospel to a stranger. To share your testimony. To love thy neighbour in-person … it seems so easy to love someone from afar right? How to show love and mercy to someone means to draw closer. Jesus stretched out His hand and touched a man with leprosy and said “I am willing” .

It’s time to build up communities around us, what God has already blessed us. Yesterday I was on the bus full of school kids, I happened to catch the morning school time and the afternoon time. I wondered why God put me on this bus with the same group of kids on both times. I realised He gave me a 2nd opportunity but I was too afraid to share the gospel. Then this morning I read in the paper about two courageous teenagers who had gatecrashed a party and now the man who heard what they said about being “born again” and being “saved”, years later became a minister.

It takes courage to be the salt and light in the world. To leave the confines of our comfort. To be witnessed in your faith and to witness to others. To build your house on the rock, to withstand any storm

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.” Matthew 5:13

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27
