Sharing the gospel in Mexico

Sharing the Gospel in Mexico: The Evangelising Diaries of Christine and the Lord

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16

"And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." Mark 1:15

"As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near." Matthew 10:7

Since coming to Mexico, I was filled with the desire to connect with the people around me and to share the Good News, The Gospel. I finally got 100 flyers printed because my Español is basic and I wouldn't be able to explain the gospel very clearly as it deserves. So I decided to print some flyers and to hand them out.

I have never fully evangelised before. I know that the Lord has put it on my heart since being born in His grace. Nothing fuels me more than sharing the Love of God, His Truth and His Glory in my testimony.

Feeling so excited holding freshly printed flyers, I headed out to the beach to hand them out. It was my last day here in Puerto Morelos before I headed off to Acapulco on the pacific side. I am grateful for the friendly people around me, the delicious food and the warm waters. The land has giventh me much and I would love to share to the community around me the joys and salvation of the Gospel.

When I got to the beach, I was so shy and intimated. How do I approach people? I can't disturb them!... Lord give me the strength and courage to. I needed to get out of my own way. Soon, I started handing out flyers to a few locals working on the beach and then I decided to go onto the street.

I stumbled across a man and his mum and handed both of them the flyers. The guy started walking in the same direction and he was so curious and wanted to know more. He told me he was raised Catholic but never had a strong connection to God. He said at times life is lonely and unfulfilled with concerns of his health. I shared my testimony as we walked together and told him the amazing miracles God has done in my life. I am in Mexico! It was not planned but it feels so right to be here. My soul is singing in praise that I am able to travel.

So we continued to walk as I shared my love for God. I noticed with his presence there, I felt more comfortable and confident to hand out flyers to every person I saw with a smile and in my broken Spanish.

When it was finally time for us to separate, he asked me for his name and I asked for his. He said his name was “Angel”, I smiled. It warmed my heart knowing I had an ‘angel’ walking besides me as I stepped out to share the good news.

After a few more encounters, I then hopped on my scooter and left to another town, Playa del Carmen, 33km away. As I hit traffic I got stuck behind a van and in front of me it said “Jesús es mi roca fuerte” and it means “Jesus is my strong rock”. It was comforting to know that I can rest on Him and be strengthened by His strength. It made me smile knowing I am always supported.

I headed to the Main Street and handed out flyers to everyone I saw. It was loud, busy and touristy. Though the people I approached were happy to take a flyer, it was definitely something different for them on this busy ‘party’ street. I started talking to a street hawker and I shared my love and testimony to him. He was open to hearing, receiving and connecting. It was beautiful to be so warmly received by others.

As the day neared to the end and I got some delicious street tacos to nourish myself. I felt so deeply thankful and grateful for the day. I had so much fear in going out and sharing the good news publicly but in the end, I made some beautiful connections and actually got to know the people around me and their lives.

It was a beautiful way to end my last day there.

My next destination will be Greece. So excited for this next chapter!

Brothers and sisters, share the good news wherever possible, whenever possible to all His children. Plant seeds and in time it shall grow .

"And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." Mark 1:17
